Job Overview

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer role is a key leadership opportunity that will play a pivotal part in shaping the medical management of our diverse Trust. As a senior clinical leader, you will work collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer to provide strategic leadership to specific high-profile areas and medical leadership more broadly.

Main Responsibilities

The post provides a breadth of experience in professional and corporate areas that can lead to further progression and career development. You will agree a balanced medical leadership portfolio that will provide exceptional experience in corporate medical leadership, across a diverse Mental Health and Community Trust, and in the wider system. You will chair Trust-wide groups, and be a visible, respected, and key senior clinical leader, for example, as the Trust's Caldicott Guardian.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to think clearly, contain, and inspire confidence at all levels, including as a representative of the Trust and Directorate.
  • Demonstrable exceptional ability at working with others and leading through change.
  • Demonstrable ability to develop strategy.
  • Knowledge of and training in Caldicott Guardian role, or willingness and demonstrable ability to obtain this within 6 months.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and how it underpins care delivery with experience of Serious Incident report writing and complaints response.
  • Knowledge of issues pertinent to the medical profession and vision to improve medical development and roles.
