Advanced Biomedical Scientist - Digital Lead

HCA Laboratories is seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to lead our Digital Pathology department and provide support for backlogs.

About the Role

We're looking for a Biomedical Scientist with experience in both Histology and Digital Pathology to join our team at HCA Laboratories in London. The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures and a passion for digital pathology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practice as an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and maintain registration.
  • Follow HCA Labs standing policies and procedures to ensure an efficient delivery of laboratory service.
  • Comply with the code of practice of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and HCPC and work consistently to ISO and UKAS accreditation.
  • Lead Digital Pathology in HCA Cellular Pathology department and provide support for Backlogs.
  • Carry out unsupervised routine and more complex investigations and analysis of tissue using specialised laboratory equipment.
  • Be responsible for delegated tasks involved in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of a clinical pathology service with high standards of patient care.
  • Assist with the establishment and development of departmental policies and procedures to ensure an efficient delivery of laboratory service.
  • Assist Section Head/BMS3 in the formulation of departmental strategies for the training and development of all non-medical staff within the department and users of the service as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Degree in Biomedical Science or similar.
  • Experience in a Histology lab.
  • Experience working in Digital Pathology.
  • Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
  • Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences is desirable.
