About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Space Manager to join our Estates and Facilities Directorate at Durham University. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and management expertise to drive performance improvement in the planning, development, and operation of space across our University estate portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies, policies, and operating processes to optimize space utilization and management.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders on space-related matters, including space planning, estate development, and facilities management.
  • Lead and manage major projects, including the development of five to ten-year space plans, to ensure effective utilization of space and alignment with University strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with departments across the Directorate and wider University to ensure space management policies, standards, and processes are embedded into all aspects of estate planning, development, and operations.
  • Represent the University at external events and networks, including the AUDE Space Management Group, to promote best practices and stay up-to-date with industry trends.
Requirements
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or substantial relevant experience working in a resource scheduling/estates environment in a large complex organization.
  • Professional space management practitioner with specialist knowledge and expertise to influence service delivery and activities within the organization.
  • Experience of participating in networks to share and discuss good practice effectively, and develop strong and productive working relationships internally and externally.
  • Experience of delivering and developing specialist buildings or estates services.
  • Experience of working collaboratively to successfully deliver major infrastructure projects involving multi-agency working within an educational, commercial, or industrial environment.
