Software Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role
Lightcast Discovery is a life-science startup developing a unique platform for massively parallel workflows. We are seeking a highly skilled Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our growing software and integration team, ensuring that both embedded and desktop software is thoroughly tested.
This varied role involves extending test automation frameworks and coverage in a maturing test function, shaping the focus and direction of automated testing approaches for complex products.
The technology used includes novel hardware control, machine learning, complex image analysis, and rich visualization applications, with development following Agile principles and frequent releases.
You will be responsible for:
- Identifying testing requirements for automation and opportunities to extend coverage, designing new frameworks for functional and non-functional testing.
- Actively contributing to the test perspective within meetings to improve the testability of solutions, collaborating with engineering, electronics, and biology teams using an Agile process.
- Applying multiple test techniques to improve the reliability and robustness of software, testing GUI, databases, charting, and data analysis tools.
- Producing documentation to capture the intent and evidence of test automation, ensuring others can execute and maintain test code and associated activities.
We expect you to have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in testing software and/or hardware solutions.
- A thorough understanding of test techniques, coding (C#, Python, WPF), and risk analysis.
- Familiarity with Agile development concepts and processes.
- Experience with designing test frameworks, TeamCity, TestRail, and JIRA.
Additionally, it would be advantageous to have:
- Technical knowledge of databases, data storage, and logging.
- Knowledge of software for image processing/machine vision.
- Scientific computing knowledge and a strong mathematical background.
- Understanding/experience in Life Sciences.
