Empowering Learning seeks an exceptional Behavioural Support Specialist to join our team at a SEND provision in Derby. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in working with young people, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality support to children with SEND, working closely with the class teacher and other teaching assistants to ensure a smooth learning environment.
  • Assist children during lessons and school activities, promoting positive behaviour and academic progress.
  • Support staff and children during lunch and break times, maintaining a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Develop and implement personalised learning plans for children with unique needs, using evidence-based strategies to drive progress.
  • Deliver targeted interventions, such as 1:1 or small group activities, to address specific learning gaps.
  • Collect and record evidence of children's work, informing assessment and progress monitoring.
  • Provide physical management and care for children, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and drive continuous improvement in our SEND provision.
  • Contribute to the wider school environment, participating in team meetings and activities to promote a positive school culture.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in SEND and behaviour support, applying new knowledge and skills to enhance our provision.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering a sense of community and inclusion.
