Job Overview

The position of Senior Coroner at Norfolk County Council is a highly sought-after role that requires exceptional leadership and investigative skills. As the head of the local coroner service, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inquests into complex or high-profile cases.

We are seeking a skilled professional with extensive knowledge of coroner law and basic medicine to join our team as a Senior Coroner. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in conducting investigations and a strong understanding of court procedure.

The selected individual will be a barrister, solicitor, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with a minimum of five years of experience in their field. They must also satisfy the judicial-appointment eligibility condition.

The Coroner's role is not only demanding but also comes with significant responsibilities. Once appointed, the Coroner becomes a Judicial Office holder until they reach the age of 75 (compulsory retirement age), unless they choose to resign or are removed prior to that milestone.

As a member of our team, the Senior Coroner will enjoy a competitive salary of £142,859 per annum. This remuneration package reflects the importance of this role within our organization.
