Highways Maintenance Technician

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for undertaking various Highways Structures Maintenance activities, responding to inspections, complaints, or emergencies. Your duties will include:
- Grass cutting and landscape maintenance
- Cleaning bridge drainage and other maintenance duties required to effectively maintain the Highway Infrastructure
- Working closely with your team members to ensure defined safe systems of work and risk assessments are adhered to at all times
- Actively participating in Incident Management & Winter Service
- Effectively using Colas plant and fleet and ensuring all vehicles are checked safe before taking out in accordance with company policy
- Working within Colas' processes to effectively manage administrative tasks such as timesheet collation, capturing plant, labour & material use, etc.
- Maintaining a professional approach and positively reflecting the image of the company
- Actively promoting Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of, and compliance with, general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System
- Working both nights and days, participating in out-of-hours rotas for winter maintenance and emergency response, including stand-by
- Undertaking all other appropriate duties as assigned by your line manager or Ganger as required by the business
The ideal candidate will have experience of Highways Maintenance, a Class C HGV with CPC not essential, and/or any relevant Highways qualifications desirable (VRS, TM, Gully Emptying, Soft Estate, etc.). We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude and willing to work with initiative. Good communication skills and the ability to work in high-pressure environments and in all weather conditions are essential.
