Highways Maintenance Operative

Colas Ltd is seeking a skilled Highways Maintenance Operative to join their Structures team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out highway maintenance duties, including cyclical maintenance, reactive maintenance, incident response, and winter maintenance. The role requires a strong focus on safety, customer service, serviceability, and sustainability.
Main Responsibilities- Undertake various Highways Structures Maintenance activities, responding to inspections, complaints, or emergencies.
- Perform grass cutting and landscape maintenance, cleaning bridge drainage, and other maintenance duties to effectively maintain the Highway Infrastructure.
- Work closely with team members to ensure defined safe systems of work and risk assessments are adhered to at all times.
- Participate in Incident Management & Winter Service, effectively use Colas plant and fleet, and ensure all vehicles are checked safe before taking out in accordance with company policy.
- Manage administrative tasks such as timesheet collation, capturing plant, labour & material use, and maintain a professional approach positively reflecting the image of the company.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Highways Maintenance, a Class C HGV with CPC (not essential), and/or any relevant Highways qualifications (desirable). A can-do attitude, willingness to work with initiative, good communication skills, and the ability to work in high-pressure environments and all weather conditions are essential.

- A salary between £11.44 and £14.37 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
