Highways Maintenance Operative

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Structures team at Colas. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for carrying out highway maintenance duties, including winter maintenance and emergency response. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safety and serviceability of our highway infrastructure.
Main Responsibilities- Carry out highway maintenance activities, including grass cutting, landscape maintenance, and cleaning bridge drainage.
- Respond to inspections, complaints, or emergencies, and participate in incident management and winter service.
- Effectively use Colas plant and fleet, and ensure all vehicles are checked safe before use.
- Manage administrative tasks, such as timesheet collation, capturing plant, labour, and material use.
- Promote health and safety in the workplace, and ensure awareness of and compliance with general health and safety responsibilities.
- Participate in out-of-hours rotas for winter maintenance and emergency response, including stand-by.
- Experience in highways maintenance, preferably with a Class C HGV and CPC.
- Relevant highways qualifications, such as VRS, TM, Gully Emptying, or Soft Estate.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments and in all weather conditions.
- A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
