Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Structural Designer to join our team at nexos in Aberdeen.

This is a permanent opportunity that will see you play a key role in ensuring the technical quality of structural draughting activities is maintained within budget and schedule.

As a Lead Structural Designer, you will be accountable for estimating, coordinating the preparation of design deliverables, managing delivery, and maintaining technical excellence for your assigned team/project portfolio.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and improvement of our Business Management System (BMS) and department working practices, systems, and team efficiency.
  • Supporting the development and competency of subordinates.
  • Maintaining the required technical quality of work, in accordance with originating, checking, and approval procedures.
  • Supervising and providing support to structural designers.
  • Producing, checking, and approving structural deliverables in accordance with industry standards, codes, and client specifications.
  • Undertaking offshore surveys and creating survey reports.
  • Assisting in the preparation of CTR estimates.
  • Providing technical input during detailed engineering of projects, if requested.
  • Establishing good working relationships and communication with designers, other discipline leads, department managers, and clients.
  • Monitoring and maintaining project plans and providing regular progress updates for assigned scopes.

To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industry and ONC in engineering (or equivalent) or HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrable competence in the use of AutoCAD 2D & 3D and ReCap software.
  • Good working knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Experience of leading a team.
