Role Overview:

As a key member of the Future Technology Group (FTG) Applied Research Engineering team at PlayStation, you will be responsible for implementing and delivering cutting-edge applications and plug-ins across a wide range of products, services, and platforms.

FTG is focused on driving the future development of PlayStation, and we're seeking talented individuals who are passionate about making a difference, working collaboratively with creative and intelligent colleagues, and pushing the boundaries of innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will be involved in all stages of the development life cycle, from feature design and planning through to implementation and launch of services and applications.
  • Evaluate state-of-the-art research, including Machine Learning, AI, and graphics, and productionize it as a variety of services, plug-ins, and applications.
  • Collaborate with the Design and Art teams to deliver proof-of-concepts using different software and hardware solutions.
  • Continuously innovate, develop, and deliver advancements for existing projects.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process.
Requirements:
  • This is a mid-level to senior engineering role that requires a strong technical background in maths or computer science, with a degree or equivalent experience.
  • You must have the ability and knowledge to develop code in C++ in the context of high-performance, low-latency systems.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ and experience with commercial game engines are essential.
  • Experience with 3D/UI graphics programming using Vulkan or similar API is a plus.
  • Experience in Machine Learning is highly desirable.
  • Able to review, debug, and enhance already produced code.
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a larger team and proactively on your own.
  • Good presentation and communication skills are required.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with git, github, or gitlab source control.
  • Experience with testing methodology and frameworks.
  • Experience with continuous integration systems and pipelines.
  • Experience of video and audio encoding.
  • Experience and awareness of the 3D art and animation pipelines within Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with Unity (C#).
  • Knowledge of PlayStation hardware and SDK.
  • Knowledge and ability to construct blueprints within Unreal Engine.
