About the Role

Acre Software is rebuilding the UK's £1.4 trillion mortgage market from the ground up, with a completely new, end-to-end management system for mortgages. Our platform cuts out unnecessary admin, pain, and friction from buying a home. We're covering the entire journey, from figuring out what you can borrow, to getting your keys. We're guided by the voice of real home buyers and by our close relationships with brokers, lenders, and insurers.

We're looking for a lead front-end developer that wants to help make the home buyer process better and build a great frontend engineering team. Your role will be to work closely with other front-end developers and the broader engineering organisation to deliver a smooth and seamless user experience for Acre. You will be highly motivated, be technology agnostic, and be passionate and proud of the work you produce. Our team believes in user-centric product design, and you will be building an iconic, beautiful system unlike anything in the market today.

Key Responsibilities

As a key role within the engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of the user interface that empowers consumers, brokers, and operational functions to efficiently manage the mortgage research and application process. You will be expected to write reusable, testable, and efficient code that produces a seamless and beautiful user experience. During our software development life cycle, you will be expected to work with the business as a whole, converting business requirements into development tasks as well as mentoring other team members.

Requirements

You should be ambitious but also pragmatic when needed. As a Lead FE Engineer, you'll be responsible for helping promote and ensure software engineering best practice and a culture of quality across the Frontend Development team and across the code base. There will also be the opportunity to progress to people management if desired. You should be passionate about software engineering and about delivering a quality product. You should enjoy creating beautiful and enjoyable user interfaces that delight users. You should have an excellent understanding and experience with client-side JavaScript (Typescript), React, and of course CSS and HTML. You should be committed to using automated testing platforms and unit tests to deliver readable, maintainable code. You should be proficient with issue management, code versioning, continuous integration, and deployment tools.
