Instrumentation Design Expert

Chelsea Technologies Ltd. is seeking an exceptional Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead our team in developing innovative instruments and systems for complex applications. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving design activities, managing projects, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver cutting-edge scientific instrumentation.
We are looking for a highly skilled mechanical design professional with expertise in translating theoretical concepts into practical solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of engineering disciplines, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design authority for electronics, software, and mechanical design activities
- Support the Director of Engineering in project management and strategy
- Assign tasks, set project goals, negotiate with vendors and clients, and ensure timely and budgetary project delivery
- Scientific instrumentation design from concept to final product
- Forward-looking technical research and evaluation
- Specific product design activities within projects
- Project Management
- Bidding, business promotion, and development
- Product testing and on-site commissioning
Requirements:
- A comprehensive knowledge of fundamental engineering principles
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (2.1 or higher) from a recognized university
- Significant experience working as a design engineer in a high technology environment
- Exceptional leadership skills and ability to manage a team
- Strong attention to detail, tolerances, safety factors, component specifications, materials selection, testing, and build standard control
- Familiarity with components, suppliers, and processes
Salary Estimate: £72,000 - £95,000 per annum, depending on experience.
