SEMH Teaching Assistant Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team in Barnsley. This role provides an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of how to support students with SEMH needs, including providing individualised support, implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviours, and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
This role is ideal for those who are passionate about working with children and want to develop their skills and experience in a supportive and collaborative environment. We offer a competitive salary of approximately £25,000 per annum, as well as opportunities for professional development and training.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Supporting students with SEMH needs in both their academic and personal development.
- Working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support comprehensive student progress.
- Utilising trauma-informed practices to better understand and address the needs of students.
- Providing individualised support to students with SEMH needs.
- Implementing strategies to manage and improve challenging behaviours.
