Primary Education Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist school for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Croydon.
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1 to 1 and small group basis. You will need to be committed to improving the lives of those affected by emotional trauma or mental health.
You will work closely with the teaching staff to provide support and guidance to pupils, and help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will have a background in youth work or previous experience in a SEMH support role, and be able to provide support whilst maintaining high expectations.
Sports/PE coaches are also welcome to apply, as physical activities are an integral part of daily activities for the students.
The SchoolThis all-through alternative provision in Croydon provides education for pupils with social, emotional, behavioural needs who are unable to attend mainstream school settings.
The school is set over two sites and has good facilities with a personalised approach to meet the needs of the pupils.
Many learners join the school after an interrupted education due to regular fixed term exclusions, disruptive behaviour or SEN needs that have not been met or identified.
The school also offers respite placements on both sites across the key stages.
There is an established leadership team and both teaching and support staff benefit from working in a wider trust that can support their training and development.
