About the Role

We are seeking two proactive and skilled colleagues to join our thriving team as Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) in Islington's School Wellbeing Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver preventative and early intervention mental health work to all the borough's mainstream schools.
  • Work with children, young people, family members, or school staff to provide workshops, assemblies, groups, and individual interventions.
  • Liaise with school staff to contribute to whole-school approaches for mental health.
  • Conduct mental health assessments, screenings, and observations.
  • Develop and implement service development work to improve mental health support in schools.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1 year 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' (EMHP) or 'Children and Young Person Wellbeing Practitioner' (CWP) course.
  • Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children and families.
  • Knowledge of educational environments, safeguarding issues, and capacity and consent.
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and other agencies.
