Job Title: Band 5/6 Mental Health Practitioner/Senior Mental Health Practitioners

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at the Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our First Point of Contact Centre (FPCC), you will play a vital role in providing high-quality mental health services to our patients.

About the Role

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for managing and triaging mental health referrals, providing clinical supervision and support to junior staff, and contributing to the development of our mental health services. You will work closely with our Senior Mental Health Practitioners, Operational Manager, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triage mental health referrals, including routine and urgent cases, and direct them to the most appropriate service.
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff, including Band 5 Mental Health Practitioners and Band 3 Call Handlers.
  • Contribute to the development of our mental health services, including the implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with our Senior Mental Health Practitioners, Operational Manager, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care.
Requirements
  • Registered Mental Health Practitioner status or Registered Practitioner with significant mental health experience.
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable and significant post-qualification experience in mental health or related areas.
  • Sound experience of first-line assessments, including assessment of risk.
  • Sound experience of conducting appraisals and monitoring performance of staff.
