Arboricultural Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Arboricultural Specialist to join our team at The Crown Estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our estate's tree stock to the highest arboricultural and conservation standards.

• Undertake a wide range of arboricultural tasks and operations, including pruning, tree felling, and tree planting.
• Comply with the departmental health and safety systems, including LOLER, PUWER, and COSHH.
• Operate machinery to deliver a range of work programmes.
• Support the team to deal with unforeseen events on the estate.
• Undertake special projects or other tasks as agreed with the Supervisor.

• Relevant experience in the theory of modern arboriculture and conservation management of trees and woodlands.
• Demonstrate an understanding of conservation issues relating to veteran trees and associated habitats.
• Demonstrable skills in delivering high-quality work safely, using a variety of machinery and tools.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Estate and its working land conditions.
• Previous experience of land or arboriculture-based operations.
• Demonstrable experience and understanding of land-based health and safety practices.
• A good communicator, confident, friendly, and approachable with the ability to engage with a wide variety of people.

• Aware in Safe Use of Manually Fed Woodchipper.
• Award in the Safe Use of a Mobile Elevated Work Platform.
• Emergency Treework Operations.
• Tree Climbing and Rescue Operations.
• Safe Use of a Chainsaw from a MEWP.
• Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw using free-fall techniques.
• Aerial Tree Rigging.
• Emergency First Aid + F.
