Arboriculture Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Arboriculture Specialist to join our team at The Crown Estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our tree stock to the highest arboricultural and conservation standards.

1. Undertake a wide range of arboricultural tasks and operations, including pruning, tree felling, and tree planting.
2. Comply with health and safety systems, including LOLER & PUWER compliance, Hazard & Risk Assessment, and COSHH awareness.
3. Operate machinery to deliver a range of work programmes, and react to unforeseen events on the Estate.
4. Support the team to deliver wider Estate objectives, and undertake special projects or other tasks as agreed with the Supervisor.

1. Relevant experience in the theory of modern arboriculture and conservation management of trees and woodlands.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of conservation issues relating to veteran trees and associated habitats.
3. Demonstrable skills in delivering high quality work safely, using a variety of machinery and tools.
4. Knowledge and understanding of the Estate and its working land conditions.
5. Previous experience of land or arboriculture-based operations, and demonstrable experience and understanding of land-based health and safety practices.

1. Level 2 Aware in Safe Use of Manually Fed Woodchipper.
2. Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of a Mobile Elevated Work Platform.
3. Level 3 Award in Emergency Treework Operations.
4. Level 2 Award in Tree Climbing and Rescue Operations.
5. Level 3 Award in Safe Use of a Chainsaw from a MEWP.
6. Level 3 Award Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw using free-fall techniques.
7. Level 3 Award in Aerial Tree Rigging.
8. Emergency First Aid + F.
9. Full, valid driving licence is essential.
