Job Title: Research and Development Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our research team at Planet Smart as a Research and Development Assistant.

Your key responsibilities will include assisting our science team in advancing the development of sustainable biopolymers and their biodegradation. This will involve shadowing our science team during an ongoing grant project with the University of Manchester and supporting the internalisation of the process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Regularly travel to the University of Manchester to prepare reports on experiments
  • Support analysis of experimental results
  • Replicate experiments designed by the science team (polymerisation, crosslinking, enzymatic biodegradation)
  • Support R&D admin, such as equipment costing and ordering
Requirements:
  • Studying a degree in Chemistry, biochemistry or Material Science
  • Practical experience with polymers or enzymes
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and can-do attitude, presenting solutions rather than problems
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent English
