About the Role
The Economics Group within Newcastle University Business School is seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic to join our team as a Lecturer in Economics. We are a collegiate and generalist group, delivering teaching and learning of the highest quality, and attracting highly qualified students to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality teaching and learning, and student support, including mentoring and supervising students throughout their studies.
- Set and mark assessments, and contribute to curriculum development, ensuring all students benefit from studying in a research-intensive, research-excellent academic environment.
- Engage students in education for life, that challenges and supports them to discover and fulfil their potential.
- Contribute to the Business School's Vision, Mission, and Strategy, and operate as an active citizen in the Economics and Business School community.
- Undertake administrative tasks to support teaching, and take responsibility for a defined management or administrative role, such as Module Leader, Year Tutor, or Degree Programme Director.
Requirements
- Hold, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in a relevant subject, with evidence of strong disciplinary knowledge and the ability to deliver research-led teaching.
- Have experience of teaching economics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and the ability to engage with external stakeholders, generating real-world impact from research.
- Be able to supervise PGR students, and have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as organisational, time management, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to ethics, responsibility, and sustainability.
