About the Job:
Herefordshire Council is committed to delivering high-quality services that protect and improve the health and wellbeing of our residents. As a Public Health Officer - Environmental Services, you will be responsible for investigating and addressing public health issues, such as pest control, noise pollution, and environmental hazards. You will work closely with other teams to ensure that our services are effective and efficient.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification in Environmental Health to degree standard or equivalent and have or be working towards EHRB certificate of registration or equivalent. We welcome applications from final year Environmental Health students or those requiring practical experience.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Investigating statutory nuisance and antisocial behaviour reactive work
  • Consulting and investigating entertainment licensing 'prevention of nuisance licensing' objectives
  • Investigating a wide range of public health issues including prevention of pests, accumulations, private drainage issues, Public Health Funerals, etc.
  • Assisting with environmental permit low risk premises inspection programme

In return, we offer a competitive salary of £31,067 - £39,513 (plus £2,000 pro rata market rate supplement), 37 hours per week, and access to our contributory pension and staff benefits scheme.
