Advanced Healthcare Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Healthcare Practitioner to join our team at North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical leadership team, you will play a vital role in providing clinical leadership, supervision, and governance to Specialist Paramedics and Nurses engaged in remote urgent and emergency care assessments.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide clinical leadership to the Trust's workforce for integrated urgent care, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care in alignment with the Trust's clinical strategy.
- Ensure ambulance clinical quality indicators and key clinical performance metrics are achieved, promoting a culture of continuous development and improvement.
- Offer subject matter expertise in clinical investigations and reviews, making balanced judgments on care standards in line with the Just Culture guide.
- Deliver the advancing practice program within the clinical validation service and integrated urgent care, promoting evidence-based care and maintaining professional standards.
- Conduct clinical case and practice reviews within the clinical validation service and integrated urgent care, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
- Supervise specialist paramedics/nurses and other clinical staff, ensuring their practice development and providing feedback to improve clinical care and professional practice.
- Implement the clinical strategy within the clinical validation service and integrated urgent care, ensuring audit results, investigation findings, research outputs, and clinical education plans enhance practice.
- Provide clinical advice and support to operational management, quality & safety, research, and clinical pathways teams, promoting a culture of collaboration and shared learning.
- Practice according to the four pillars of advanced practice through clinical work, research, education, and leadership to advance professional development and improve patient outcomes.
- Conduct advanced clinical assessments of patients with complex health needs, ensuring care plans meet these needs and promoting patient-centered care.
- Employ structured clinical referral and handover processes, ensuring seamless transitions of care and reducing errors.
- Use clinical judgment to assess, diagnose, treat, refer, and/or discharge patients with undifferentiated injuries and illnesses, adhering to Trust, JRCALC, and national guidelines.
- Administer or prescribe medication in line with Trust policies and guidelines, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
- Navigate acute and urgent care pathways effectively, including arranging direct admissions when necessary, and referring patients to appropriate care settings.
- Maintain accurate records and understand information governance responsibilities, ensuring confidentiality and security of patient information.
- Deliver evidence-based care and maintain professional standards, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Promote the service by collecting, analysing, and reporting evidence of its impact on patient outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
- Lead research, clinical audit, service evaluation, and improvement initiatives, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Contribute to developing guidelines and care pathways based on evidence, ensuring that practice is informed by the best available research and expertise.
- Participate in serious incident reviews and embed learning into practice, promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.
- Engage in self-appraisal and lead others' development through supervision, mentorship, and reflective practice, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Act as an expert resource and role model, demonstrating high standards of professional and clinical practice, and promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Supervise and support Specialist Paramedics/Nurses, ensuring their practice development and providing feedback to improve clinical care and professional practice.
- Mentor clinicians and support their CPD and revalidation training, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Develop systems for feedback to improve clinical care and professional practice, ensuring that practice is informed by the best available research and expertise.
