Job Title: Advanced Healthcare Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Healthcare Practitioner to join our team at North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our urgent care team, you will play a critical role in providing clinical leadership, supervision, and governance to Specialist Paramedics and Nurses engaged in remote urgent and emergency care assessments.

The successful candidate will have significant post-registration experience of advanced clinical practice, clinical leadership, clinical supervision, and mentorship. You will have a strong background in the assessment and care of undifferentiated patients in a remote care or an urgent and emergency care setting.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical leadership to the Trust's workforce for integrated urgent care
  • Ensuring ambulance clinical quality indicators and key clinical performance metrics are achieved
  • Offering subject matter expertise in clinical investigations and reviews, making balanced judgments on care standards in line with the Just Culture guide
  • Delivering the advancing practice program within the clinical validation service and integrated urgent care
  • Conducting clinical case and practice reviews within the clinical validation service and integrated urgent care
  • Implementing the clinical strategy within the clinical validation service and integrated urgent care, ensuring audit results, investigation findings, research outputs, and clinical education plans enhance practice
  • Providing clinical advice and support to operational management, quality & safety, research, and clinical pathways teams
  • Practicing according to the four pillars of advanced practice through clinical work, research, education, and leadership to advance professional development
  • Promoting a culture of continuous development, nurturing talents and building strengths within teams

The post holder will manage patient care by:

  • Conducting advanced clinical assessments of patients with complex health needs, ensuring care plans meet these needs
  • Utilising advanced clinical skills and knowledge defined in the Advanced Practitioner Urgent Care Scope of Practice
  • Administering or prescribing medication in line with Trust policies and guidelines
  • Navigating acute and urgent care pathways effectively, including arranging direct admissions when necessary
  • Referring patients to appropriate care settings and ensuring proper handover
  • Delivering evidence-based care and maintaining professional standards
