Health and Safety Manager Role

A leading manufacturer in Co Down is seeking a proactive and analytical Health & Safety Manager to ensure Health and Safety remains a key priority across all areas. The successful candidate will support continuous improvement and aim for an accident-free, safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and ensure company compliance.
  2. Train line managers and other relevant personnel in respect of legislative requirements.
  3. Ensure employees can perform their duties in a safe environment, protected from hazards, taking direct action to prevent potential accidents or incidents.
  4. Analyse statistics to identify underlying trends and patterns.
  5. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments in all areas and on all machinery and equipment.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (Nebosh or NVQ) or equivalent.
  2. Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Working knowledge of Health and Safety management improvement systems & techniques.
  4. Ability to research and understand Health and Safety legislation and guidelines.
  5. Experience producing risk assessments and carrying out H&S audits.
  6. Previous experience liaising with regulators, such as HSENI.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Knowledge and experience of working with ISO 45001.
  2. People management experience.
  3. Experience interacting with insurers regarding liability claims.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation and management systems. They will be able to demonstrate a proactive approach to ensuring a safe working environment and will have experience in training and auditing.
