Ambulance Care Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking an Ambulance Care Assistant to join our team at EMED Group, a leading Patient Transport and Care Partner to the NHS. As an Ambulance Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in transporting elderly, sick, and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities
- Assist in the transportation of 'end of life' service users with empathy and care
- Build rapport with patients and their relatives/friends through effective communication
- Responsible for lifting, securing, and helping service users in and out of the ambulance
- Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes
- Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs, or similar both in and out of hospital and medical/commercial flights
- Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses
- Ensure the ambulance is kept safe, clean, and tidy
Requirements
- Committed to patient care and well-being
- Effective communicator with experience of communicating with others in emotional circumstances
- Calm, considerate, and careful driver with no more than three penalty points on your license
- Natural flair for team working and collaboration
- Physically fit for patient handling and moving
- Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company-funded)
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Familiar with the local and surrounding area
