Functional Skills Educator

Deliver high-quality teaching to support learners in achieving their goals. As a Functional Skills Tutor at Pearson, you will be responsible for providing face-to-face and remote learning support to adult learners studying English and Mathematics qualifications up to level 2.

Key Responsibilities:
- Teach English and Mathematics Functional Skills qualifications to adult learners, including conducting initial assessments, diagnostic assessments, and administering exams.
- Manage learner caseloads to ensure timely completion, organizing course bookings and issuing Joining Instructions as required.
- Update learner e-portfolios with evidence of learning, achievement, feedback, communication attempts, and learning plans.
- Conduct Speaking and Listening assessments at levels 1 and 2, recording assessments and completing Awarding Body paperwork.
- Provide face-to-face and remote learning support, motivating learners in their studies and promoting academic excellence.
- Develop and implement individual learning plans (ILPs) to document progress and the learner journey.
- Undertake specified duties, including course/resource development, learner induction, tutorial support, and associated administrative tasks.
- Maintain accurate records for examinations, assessed work, and learner progress reports.
- Familiarize yourself with Quality Assurance Systems and Risk Management systems, adhering to policies and procedures.
We are seeking individuals with relevant teaching experience, preferably holding a Cert Ed, PGCE, or DTLLS qualification. Experience in delivering Functional Skills up to level 2 and using technology such as Zoom for remote support is essential. A car owner with a willingness to use it for business purposes is also desirable.
Pearson offers a competitive salary range of £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience. This position requires a Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics.
