Job Title: Democratic Governance Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Democratic Governance Officer to join our Democratic Services and Scrutiny Team in Croydon. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an efficient Democratic Services function, ensuring these areas run smoothly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft agendas and minutes of meetings and ensure they are published at the appropriate time.
  • Attend meetings as the representative of the service where Councillors/Members are present.
  • Advise the Chair of meetings on the running of the meeting and interpretation of local government regulations.
  • Monitor and record decisions of Committees and Sub-Committees to ensure they are made correctly and are compliant with local government laws and regulations.
  • Facilitate the webcasting of Council and Committee meetings.
  • Assist the Democratic Service Team with administrative tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • An understanding of the democratic process involved in local government.
  • Great administrative and organisation skills with strong attention to detail and ability to complete multiple tasks to a high standard.
  • The relevant experience to support and act as representative of the service at meetings of Committees and Sub-Committees.
