Production Manager Job Description

Beehive Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Production Manager to join their team in the Thame area.

We are working with a leading company in the pharmaceutical industry who specializes in the design and supply of capital equipment for medical and pharmaceutical industries.

They have an excellent reputation and a global customer base.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and manage factory manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and quality control.
  • Maintain and create effective processes in line with ISO9001 certification, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to reduce costs and improve productivity.
  • Manage production schedules, labor costs, and material procurement to achieve on-time deliveries and meet budget targets.
Key Tasks:
  • Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BoM) for manufacturing and procurement activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain BoM templates for the design team to use.
  • Issue BoMs for standard products and manage stock levels to ensure availability.
  • Manage production emails and respond to queries from the production team.
  • Conduct stock checks and ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Assist in the rationalization and standardization of parts and products.
  • Manage staff within the production department, including training and development of apprentices.
  • Allocate tasks to staff and ensure they are equipped and ready for production.
  • Work with purchasing to ensure parts are available when required.
  • Manage production schedules and communicate status, schedule shifts, and readiness to the Project Coordinator.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Attend Engineering handover meetings to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Manage the production schedule and ensure timely completion of works orders.
  • Attend close-out meetings to ensure feedback is provided to sales and engineering for continuous improvement.
Key Results and Objectives:
  • Ensure the smooth running of the production department.
  • Meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Effectively manage staff in the production department.
  • Ensure production office tasks are completed on time.
  • Implement effective line management and continuous improvement.
