Job Summary

North West London Integrated Care Board (NW London ICB) is seeking a Deputy Chief Pharmacist to lead the governance and access for medicines. This role will report to the ICS Chief Pharmacist and be responsible for working with clinicians across the system to improve the quality of prescribing in specialist pathways and deliver improved health outcomes for patients.

The post holder will support the delivery of a NW London wide function focused on ensuring evidence-based, cost-effective medicines use in clinical pathways across providers and primary care.

The Deputy Chief Pharmacist will work across the NW London ICS to support the ICS Chief Pharmacist in managing the effective working of medicines governance and access, and delivering objectives of the NW London-wide Medicines Optimisation Team.

The post holder will have responsibility for the operational management of the Medicines Governance and Access specialism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the governance and access for medicines across NW London
  • Work with clinicians to improve the quality of prescribing in specialist pathways
  • Support the delivery of a NW London wide function focused on ensuring evidence-based, cost-effective medicines use
  • Operational management of the Medicines Governance and Access specialism

Requirements

  • Formulary, policy, and guidelines development and implementation
  • Critical appraisal skills and knowledge to analyse, interpret, and evaluate clinical papers, clinical evidence, data, and information from various sources
  • Hospital and Commissioning - working in a large organisation in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Proven and demonstrable experience of working in primary and secondary care
  • Experience of budget management and detailed knowledge of NHS medicines funding and reimbursement models

Skills

  • Ability to assess the financial impact of decisions made by decision-making forums
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and monitor information systems relating to medicines to support innovation initiatives
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and an ability to plan, prioritise, organise own workload of complex activities and work to deadlines
  • Good managerial skills
  • Willingness to tackle difficult issues

Qualifications

  • Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy or other degree enabling registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Registered pharmacist (General Pharmaceutical Council)
  • Mandatory continuing professional development to maintain fitness to practice
