Postdoctoral Researcher in Building Stock Modelling

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the International Society for Industrial Ecology. The successful candidate will contribute to the BuildZero project, a five-year research initiative funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UK). The project aims to transform the UK's building sector, achieving zero material extraction, zero carbon, and zero waste.
Key Responsibilities- Develop new modelling tools and approaches to characterise the existing building stock in the UK, combining physical characterisation with patterns of use and energy performance.
- Identify and prioritise key interventions in the UK building sector and its supply chain to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and material demand.
- Collaborate with industrial and academic partners to achieve project goals.
- PhD (or close to obtain) in Engineering or a relevant technical field.
- Strong modelling and analytical skills, with experience working with tools of Industrial Ecology.
- Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary environments.
This is a full-time position for two years, with a possibility of extension until the end of the five-year BuildZero project. Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
