Guildmore Facades and Cladding is seeking a skilled Estimator to become an integral part of our Planned division. Our Estimators play a vital role in crafting precise and comprehensive tenders, significantly influencing the bidding process by collaborating closely with the pre-construction team to deliver competitive and profitable project proposals.

This position demands a thorough understanding of construction methodologies, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the proficiency to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess project requirements by analyzing scope of works, drawings, specifications, and other tender documents.
  • Generate take-offs and prepare bills of quantities as necessary.
  • Develop detailed work packages for quality supply chain tender inquiries, while managing and fostering pre-construction relationships with supply chain partners.
  • Identify and assess potential project risks, ensuring comprehensive coverage in the tender documentation.
  • Evaluate pricing returns from the supply chain against project requirements and, when necessary, develop rates and pricing from fundamental principles.
  • Engage in project meetings, site inspections, and client presentations as required.
  • Participate in weekly 'Pipeline & Estimating Review' meetings, providing updates on progress to the pre-construction team.
  • Review client ITT documents and contribute valuable insights to the bidding strategy during 'Tender Launch' meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver a comprehensive appraisal of pricing at 'Tender Adjudication' meetings, attended by key management personnel, and provide a detailed account of pricing strategy and significant project risks to guide tender submissions.
  • Ensure effective communication to promote alignment and understanding among team members.
  • Take part in regular project review meetings to discuss ongoing progress and challenges.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a construction estimator, quantity surveyor, or in a comparable role.
  • Familiarity with standard client pricing schedules, including percentage adjustments to published NatFed Schedules of Rates (SOR), bespoke SORs, lump sum pricing, basket rates, and archetype rates.
  • Knowledge of occupied refurbishment processes.
  • Capability to perform under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High proficiency in IT, particularly with MS applications and specialized job management software and electronic databases.
