Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Prospero Teaching. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in our inspirational SEN Schools in Alnwick.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with Class Teachers and other Teaching Assistants to ensure that all pupils receive the best possible levels of support tailored to their individual learning styles and needs. You will be responsible for supporting students with a range of SEN and challenging behaviour, including those who may be non-verbal, require personal care, or display challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting students with challenging behaviour and SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent manner
  • Building positive relationships with students and staff
  • Providing hands-on support to children in their learning, with a willingness to interact with pupils and engage with them
  • Working with Class Teachers and other Teaching Assistants to ensure pupils receive the best possible educational experience
Requirements:
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service)
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Experience in classrooms supporting students
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfill their potential and flourish in education
  • An enthusiastic approach and a willingness to engage with and form positive relationships with pupils
