PhD Studentship Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student to join our multidisciplinary team in developing a novel solution for cancer diagnosis and treatment. The project aims to combine Raman spectroscopy with advanced optical imaging techniques to improve the detection and treatment of cancer.

Project Overview

The project will focus on the development of ultra-thin snake-like robots and advanced optical fibres for 3D mapping of cancer tissue. The goal is to integrate Raman spectroscopy with cutting-edge fibre-optics and micro-imaging modalities to obtain molecular-specific information from microscopic biological samples.

What We Offer
  • A world-class multidisciplinary team consisting of physicists, engineers, and clinicians.
  • 3.5 years of funding, including stipend and tuition fees for UK students.
  • A supportive environment with opportunities for high-quality publications and research consumables.
  • Travel funding for international conferences.
Requirements
  • A 1st degree in physics or engineering.
  • An interest in optics and computer programming.
  • A desire to learn new skills in complementary disciplines.

The successful candidate will work jointly between the labs of Prof. Notingher, Dr. Gordon, and Dr. Mohammad, with opportunities for inter-disciplinary training and collaboration.

For further information, please contact Prof. Notingher.
