About the Role

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Secretary Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide confidential and comprehensive secretarial services to our consultant and associated team.

Main Responsibilities

Assist the Medical Secretary within the General Surgery Team by providing direct support to the consultant and nursing colorectal teams. This will include routine typing and audio typing of clinical correspondence, managing consultant diaries, prioritizing results, and organizing clinical activity.

Liaise with patients, GPs, and outside health boards to provide treatment and care. Carry out routine office tasks such as photocopying, scanning, filing, shredding, and distributing documents. Request patient notes as required for complaints and serious incidents.

Adhere to University Health Board policies and procedures. Open, sort, and circulate mail to appropriate members of staff, ensuring all mail is dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner. Receive incoming internal and external calls, dealing with them if able or diverting to appropriate personnel.

Requirements

You will need to have previous experience as an Assistant Medical Secretary or similar role. A good standard of education and accurate typing skills are essential. Experience working in a hospital environment is desirable, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office and Myrddin.
