About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at University College Kitchen. As a key member of our culinary brigade, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our students, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in banqueting and fine dining, with experience working in high-pressure kitchen environments. You will be expected to maintain the highest standards of quality, presentation, and service, while ensuring the efficient operation of our kitchens.

In this role, you will work closely with our talented team of chefs to prepare and plate meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, as well as special functions and events. Your attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work under pressure will be essential in delivering outstanding results.

As a senior member of our kitchen team, you will also be responsible for mentoring junior chefs and contributing to the development of our menu offerings. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing menus, specials, and promotions
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of dishes, including food styling and garnishing
  • Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and organization
  • Liaise with suppliers and other departments to ensure seamless delivery of ingredients and supplies
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new menu ideas and concepts

Requirements:

  • Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-end restaurant or hotel setting
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality dishes, with a focus on creativity, presentation, and flavor
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide junior chefs
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration
