Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to promote and support the progress and achievement of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) throughout the school. This role will be student-focused and will ensure high standards and expectations for both SEND students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote the progress and achievement of SEND students.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that SEND students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive education practices and SEND policies.
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement inclusive education initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND support and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

  • Possession of or working towards the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in SEND.
  • Awareness of curricula and pedagogical issues relating to literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience of engaging young people in learning who have been disconnected from education.
