About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Robotics Software Engineer to join our team at Vaarst. As a key member of our robotics software development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced autonomous robotic applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and vision for navigation, planning, exploration, and control of robotic systems in complex maritime environments.
  • Software Development: Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and scalable software using modern C and Python.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including experts in Robotics Perception and Machine Learning, to deliver robust and high-quality products.
  • Field Trials: Participate in and lead field trials of robotic systems, including marine field trials.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior team members and lead technical development.
Requirements
  • Expertise: Expertise in software development, focusing on Robotics and Modern C.
  • Industry Experience: Proven track record of delivering successful robotic products and solutions in a professional setting with significant industry experience.
  • Field Trials: Experience participating in and leading field trials of robotic systems, with marine field trials being an advantage.
  • Mentorship: Proven track record of mentoring junior team members and leading technical development.
Technical Skills
  • Programming Languages: Expertise in developing production-level modern C and Python software.
  • Robotics Principles: Advanced knowledge of robotics principles and techniques, including vehicle dynamics, control algorithms, sensor fusion, and state estimation.
  • Problem-Solving: Experience solving robotics problems, such as positioning and navigation of robotics vehicles, mapping and path planning, vehicle dynamics and control, and interfacing with sensors and actuators.
  • ROS and Linux: Proficiency in ROS and Linux/Ubuntu environments, with experience in integration and deployment of robotics systems.
  • Advanced Robotics Tools: Familiarity with advanced robotics tools and libraries, such as OpenCV, PCL, Eigen, Numpy, and Docker.
