Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Scientist to join our dynamic project team focused on advancing our self-limiting technology in insect species that are agricultural pests or vectors of disease.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the experimental design and execution of tests to validate novel processes and equipment for insect rearing and deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments to investigate the performance of our insects in new processes and equipment;
  • Develop and implement protocols for experimental testing and data analysis;
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure seamless integration of new technologies;
  • Communicate experimental results and future plans to the team through written reports, presentations, and meetings;
  • Contribute to the development of SOPs and risk assessments for insect rearing and handling;
  • Provide coaching and training to junior staff members on lab procedures and health and safety protocols;
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including equipment maintenance and waste management;
  • Participate in a weekend support rota within the R&D team.
Requirements
  • BSc/MSc degree in a relevant life science discipline or equivalent experience;
  • Previous experience in a life science industrial setting, preferably with insect rearing expertise;
  • Strong understanding of statistical methodology and principles;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Robust to feedback and self-aware of strengths and areas for improvement;
  • Good written English and oral communication skills;
  • Competent in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
