Behaviour Support Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at Academics, a Specialist School in Reading. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children aged 11 to 18 who face behaviour challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective behaviour management strategies to support students in overcoming behavioural challenges.
  • Work closely with students to encourage positive decision-making and promote healthy relationships between students, staff, and peers.
  • Create a calm and safe learning environment to help students maintain focus and develop self-regulation and coping skills.
  • Nurture the students' social and emotional development, providing emotional support and guidance as needed.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Criminology, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Passion for working with young people, particularly those facing behavioural and emotional challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience working with children and/or adults with special needs (desirable but not essential).
About the Role:

This is a great opportunity for a recent Graduate to gain hands-on experience in the mental health field, applying psychological or criminological theory to real-world scenarios. By engaging with various aspects of mental health and education, you will open doors to future roles in clinical or therapeutic settings, as well as youth justice and probation work.

Salary: £80 to £90 per day. Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
