BIMM Institute is seeking a compassionate and organized individual to fill the role of Holistic Student Support Specialist.

This 13-month fixed-term contract position will play a vital part in ensuring the overall wellbeing and welfare of our students.

About the Role:

As a key point of contact, you will provide dedicated support to students navigating various personal challenges. Your primary focus will be on facilitating access to essential services and maintaining strong connections with external agencies.

You will work closely with academic and campus teams to assess and triage student cases, escalating concerns when necessary. Proactive communication with students about available support services within the university will also be an essential aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide pastoral support to students facing mental health issues, financial hardships, and social difficulties.
  2. Manage a caseload of students, conducting both online and face-to-face sessions, and staffing drop-in services.
  3. Maintain accurate records of student interactions, referrals, and outcomes in compliance with data protection regulations.
  4. Collaborate with internal colleagues and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.

  • A good standard of general education and understanding of the role of student wellbeing services in higher education.
  • Experience working with young adults and knowledge of common challenges within this demographic.
  • An empathetic and inclusive approach, with strong administration and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively, exhibiting resilience in managing a demanding workload.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
