£35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Art Educator to join our team at our SEMH school in Southend-on-Sea. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need our support and guidance.

The ideal candidate will have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, and experience working with students with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviours. They will also possess strong subject knowledge in Art, with the ability to teach a range of techniques and media.

In this role, you will deliver engaging, differentiated art lessons, inspiring students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic approach to education.

  • Plan and deliver high-quality art lessons for students with SEMH challenges.
  • Differentiate lessons and adapt teaching methods to meet students' needs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe to explore their creative skills.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students who need help managing their emotions and behaviours.
  • Develop students' social and emotional skills through art, building confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Assess and monitor students' progress, providing regular feedback and reports.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a holistic approach to student welfare and education.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Art Educator who possesses the following qualities:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviours.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Art, with the ability to teach a range of techniques and media.
  • A patient, empathetic, and creative approach to teaching, with the ability to engage and inspire students facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
