Role Overview

The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching art at secondary school level, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate students to explore their creativity and artistic potential. A key focus of this role will be to develop and implement engaging and inspiring art lessons that meet national standards and foster a love for the arts among our students.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality art lessons to students across various age groups and abilities.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that meets national standards and encourages creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to students helping them to refine their skills and build confidence in their artistic abilities.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages experimentation and a love for the arts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, participate in professional development, and contribute to the overall success of the school.
  • Organize and participate in extracurricular activities such as art clubs, exhibitions, and community art projects to enrich the students' educational experience.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and the wider school community.
Qualifications and Experience

Requirements:

  • A degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
  • A teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience teaching art at secondary school level is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of various art techniques, mediums, and history.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to explore their creativity and artistic potential.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
Salary and Benefits

Competitive Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
