About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Older People's Services team in Calderdale. As a Band 7/8a Clinical Psychologist, you will play a key role in providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment to older adults in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive support to individuals in their own homes to avoid admission and support discharge from hospital.
  • Work with the older adults Crisis Team to provide short- and longer-term input, including supporting through admissions and continuing work on discharge to the Community Mental Health Team.
  • Develop and implement plans for the formal psychological intervention and/or management of mental health/psychological and/or behavioural difficulties based on an appropriate conceptual framework and exercising expert clinical judgement.
  • Establish rapport and build effective working relationships with service users and all those involved in their psychological, emotional and behavioural well-being.
  • Work jointly with other team members and professionals in delivering the most appropriate clinical service to service users and, where appropriate, their families/carers.
Requirements
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
  • Ability to give bad news sensitively.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
