We are seeking an experienced Educational Support Specialist to join our team at Stoke-on-Trent City Council. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year's experience working with children, preferably within an educational setting.

Job Description:

  • Support and Instruction: Provide individualised support to students, implementing tailored learning strategies and interventions to meet their unique needs.
  • Assessment and Planning: Assess student progress and adapt learning plans accordingly, collaborating with the class teacher and SENDCo to create effective personalised plans.
  • Behaviour and Emotional Support: Assist in managing challenging behaviour and supporting the emotional well-being of students, employing strategies to promote positive behaviour and self-regulation.
  • Learning Environment: Maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring students feel valued and motivated.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student education and development.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with relevant staff regarding achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Professional Development: Attend training sessions and workshops as required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of one-year experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Relevant qualifications for Teaching and Learning Support Assistants (e.g., NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to assess and deliver tailored learning to individual needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and support student emotional well-being.

Salary: £23,000 - £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
