Clinical Pharmacy Service Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at HMP Channings Wood, covering our Devon cluster of prisons. Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to patients within their allocated prison(s) and supporting the team of pharmacy technicians and assistants. This will include managing the pharmacy clinical service provision within the prison(s), planning work schedules, and making clinical judgments within their ability.
You will undertake clinical visits, carrying out Medication Use Reviews (MURs), reviewing medication history, and providing clinics for patients to give advice and support on their prescribed medicines. As an active member of the clinical governance/medicines management committee(s), you will monitor prescribing trends and assist in writing Patient Group Directions (PGDs) when appropriate.

As a member of our multidisciplinary teams, you will work closely with other healthcare professionals and partner organizations to provide effective care.
Responsibilities- Organize the pharmacy clinical service provision to allocated prisons.
- Provide clinical services to allocated prisons.
- Ensure high standards of work, both clinical and dispensing, and follow standard operating procedures.
- Work as a team with pharmacy technicians and support them professionally when on site.
- Provide clinical screening and final accuracy checks in the dispensary.
- Manage the day-to-day work of pharmacy technicians when on site.
- Review medication history of newly admitted offenders and make recommendations as necessary.
To be considered for this role, you will need a strong background in clinical pharmacy, including recent practice in a hospital or prison setting. You should have a Master's Degree of Pharmacy or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of GB (GPhC). A Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent is also desirable.
Experience of providing clinical pharmacy services, particularly in prisons or hospitals, is essential. You should also have experience of working with mental health or substance misuse patients and be able to demonstrate high standards of work and communication skills.
