Job Title: Specialist Radiographer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Radiographer to join our team at University Hospital Wishaw. As a Specialist Radiographer, you will be responsible for justifying, authorizing, and performing radiographic examinations, providing direct care and a high-quality diagnostic imaging service to patients referred from clinicians and other referrers in NHS Lanarkshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Radiographers and SHCSW, ensuring continuity of service delivery.
  • Provide leadership skills to enable the day-to-day management of service delivery.
  • Work effectively with the team to deliver a high-quality diagnostic imaging service.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
  • Participate in Out of Hours working and be able to train student radiographers.

Requirements:

  • Registered Radiographer with valid HCPC Registration.
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
  • Postgraduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice.
  • Leadership skills to enable the day-to-day management of service delivery.
  • Excellent team-working/leadership skills and the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • College of Radiographers IV injection certificate.
  • CT, mammo, or angio experience.
  • Relevant clinical experience at radiographer grade with proven competencies in applying theory to practice.
  • Training on relevant equipment.
  • Training on Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000.
  • Ability to train student radiographers.
  • Ability to participate in Out of Hours working.
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence.
