Job Title: Support Team Leader for Pilgrim Hospital

We're enhancing our Emergency Department at Pilgrim Hospital, and we're looking for a talented individual to join our team as a Support Team Leader. The successful candidate will have a natural flair for planning and organisation, with a proven ability to drive performance and create high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team to deliver high-quality support services to the Emergency Department
• Develop and implement effective plans to enhance patient care and improve departmental performance
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve Trust priorities and targets
• Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff members and ensure they have the necessary training and support to excel in their roles

Person Specification:

Essential:
  1. Managerial qualification or similar experience
  2. GCSE (or equivalent) English, Mathematics grades A-C
Desirable:
  1. ECDL qualification
Previous Experience:

Essential:
  1. Significant administrative experience
  2. Experience of working in a supervisory capacity
  3. Proven experience and success of change management
  4. Understands the acute trust environment and the obstacles in achieving Trust priorities.
Desirable:
  1. Experience in ED or acute medicine
  2. Previous experience of managing rotas and medical staffing
Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes:

Essential:
  1. Comprehensive MS Office skills including Excel experience
  2. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and able to demonstrate good listening skills
  3. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  4. Proven ability in supervision of staff
  5. Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework
  6. Flexibility and ability to initiate and co-ordinate change to working practices
  7. Influence and persuasion skills in order to deal with staff at all levels (including senior medical staff)
  8. Demonstrate experience of Urgent & Emergency Care targets
  9. Enthusiastic, highly motivated and committed to a developing service
  10. Proven ability to work as part of a team and has the ability to empower team members and leads by example.
  11. Demonstrates confidence when providing advice and support to managers and staff.
  12. Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care agenda.
Desirable:
  1. Familiarity with medical terminology
  2. Knowledge of computer systems utilised in the Trust. Medway, Web V etc.
