We are based in Manchester and serve a population of millions across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist, around 15% of patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Endoscopy Nurse to join our dynamic and fast-paced Integrated Procedures Unit (IPU). As an Endoscopy Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, assisting endoscopists during procedures, and contributing to the maintenance of Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG) accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist endoscopists during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, maintaining the highest standards of care within the endoscopy service.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
- Support the Unit in maintaining JAG accreditation.
- Participate as a member of the IPU core nursing team, with knowledge in the care of patients on the unit.
- Demonstrate high standards of individual patient care, with a commitment to the development of evidence-based practice.
- Competently care for patients, including assessment, planning, and evaluation of programs of care.
- Liaise and integrate with the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care and promote a team approach to working.
- Develop good working relationships and promote effective communication between all clinical grades of staff within the multi-disciplinary IPU team.
- The post holder will be proactive towards change and change management.
- Take responsibility for your own professional development.
- Monitor the progress of learners and in particular their skills in carrying out practical procedures.
- Demonstrate professional accountability.
- Act as a clinical role model for new staff, reflecting the philosophy, beliefs, and standards of the department.
- Ensure that all prescribed drugs and treatments are given correctly and in accordance with Trust policy, including the correct care and custody of controlled drugs.
- Offer help and advice to patients' relatives and friends, responding to their individual needs in a caring and supportive manner.
- Ensure safe use and efficient management of equipment and supplies.
Requirements
- RGN Level 1 or 2.
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing Studies.
- Experience as an endoscopy-trained nurse.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to deliver a high standard of nursing care.
- Computer literacy.
- Understanding of the need for evidence-based practice.
