Microelectronics Design Methodology Engineer Industrial Placement

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Microelectronics Design Methodology Engineer on an industrial placement. This challenging role will offer the opportunity to get directly involved in supporting projects across Europe, working on a wide range of problems from novel device modelling to large digital ICs implemented at very small transistor geometries.

About the Role

This placement will provide the opportunity to work with the latest design tools for chip design, enhancing your technical skills and knowledge in microelectronics design. You will be part of a team of specialist design methodology engineers, supporting projects across Europe and contributing to the development of microelectronics research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support projects across Europe, working on a wide range of problems from novel device modelling to large digital ICs implemented at very small transistor geometries.
  • Work with the latest design tools for chip design, enhancing your technical skills and knowledge in microelectronics design.
  • Contribute to the development of microelectronics research, working as part of a team of specialist design methodology engineers.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of fundamental principles of basic electronic circuits.
  • Enjoy solving challenging electronic engineering problems and have a genuine interest in discovering more about silicon chips and microelectronics design tools.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement.
  • Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year.
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement.
  • Able to commence employment in summer 2025.
  • Have a minimum of three A-levels at grade C or above, one of which must be mathematics, or alternative qualifications of an equivalent level.
  • Excellent understanding of fundamental principles of basic electronic circuits.
  • Diligent, reliable, and hardworking with good social skills and the ability to identify and communicate relevant technical information in English.
